Colmar and Its Toy Museum

Yellow House in Colmar, Stephanie Kilgast

Hello!

Sooo here the pictures of Colmar 🙂
Yesterday I worked, that’s pretty much all I recall from yesterday, so not much time for anything else.
This morning I cleaned (gasp!) and if you know me just a little bit up and personal, you know that cleaning isn’t really something that belongs to my weekly routine.
There.
I said it.

Anyway!
Colmar is a lovely little town in the beautiful region of Alsace. The whole region is nice and I’ve visited it with my mum before, but we didn’t have much time, so I choose Colmar for this time.
But I’m rambling.
Colmar, like most French cities, is old and the first mention of it is during the IXth century.
And as with all old cities, there are lots of (beautiful) old buildings. My little urban heart is racing and hopping from cheer joy of it.

But first things first, we had the most amazing meal of our trip in Colmar too, and as I like to chit-chat about food, here we go.
When I have time, I check tripadvisor to check out which restaurants are best, and then I forget about it and just go with the city flow.
But this time, luck was on our side!
Just when we started getting hungry, we stumbled upon “La Table du Brocanteur” and I remembered the name from my internet search.
We checked the menu and there was asian inspiration in the meals so in we went!
I took a sea bass curry and JY a coconut soup and both were divine.
Then, the moment came when we had finished our wonderful meals and the waitress came asking if we’d fancy a dessert.
She also told us today’s suggestion was “rhubarb financier” and left us to decide.
Usually at that point we are not really hungry anymore so it really depends on how good the meal was. The meal was fantastic so I really wanted to try something.
JY took a strawberry tiramisu and I went for the rhubarb financier. (heck, it’s the season!)

Now I was not prepared for the angel’s choir that happened in my head and heart.
Not even kidding, I litteraly said that about 5 times to JY, who by that point probably was sick of hearing it.
The financier was the best dessert that I’ve ever eaten.

Ok, so I never went to fancy restaurants, so I’m pretty sure there are other meals ready to blow me away.
And sure, the combo financier and rhubarb really was a winner for me before even trying.
But still.
I’m obsessed with this.
I need to buy some ramequins and start a life-long quest to recreate this perfect dessert at home.
In a way, I’m completely doomed.
Such a delicious dessert.

After this perfect meal, we went to the toys museum, which was a lot of fun. Tons of creepy toys as well.
Like these clowns.
One even has red eyes.
I mean… red eyes. I hope it’s just discoloration over the years and not just a sadistic choice.

There also were quite few mini versions of household appliances. Like sewing machines but also functional irons.
A couple of miniature dishes as well.

My favorites were the metallic ones. Such pretty designs and the colors were so appealing to me.

After the toy museum we went on to stroll through the city, therefor pictures of buildings are now following!
And with that being said, I leave you.
I still have one post about our trip that will follow soon 🙂
